Supported living is different to domiciliary care as the individual will move to a new home so that help is readily available. Supported living refers to the co-ordinated combination of both this new home and a care team that typically provide mental health support, personal care or companionship. The accommodation is usually a shared house or a flat in a shared living complex. The care is provided under a separate contractual arrangement to those for the person’s housing.
Supported living differs from warden assisted living for a few reasons, mainly that the on-site presence is trained and employed to proactively provide hands on care and support. For more detail on the differences between supported care and warden assisted living refer to our resource centre on our website.
