Abbots Lawn is registered with the Care Quality Commission, to provide personal and nursing care for a total of thirty seven people of either gender who have mental health issues.
Nursing care is provided for those service users who have been assessed as requiring nursing care and assistance will be given to ensure each service users entitlement to all NHS facilities and services.
Our service user age group ranges from 50 years upwards.Our service caters for persons suffering from Dementia. We also run a rehabilitation programme to facilitate some of our service users returning to live in the community.
The home provides thirty five bedrooms, thirty three single and two double. Most of which have en-suite facilities. There are also communal bathrooms and communal toilets. There are three lounges and a dining room on the ground floor overlooking the gardens.
In house activities are provided on a daily basis during the week. An activities co-ordinator attends for six hours each day Monday to Friday. The home shares the use of a mini bus and trips out to local places of interest. Karaoke sessions with dancing are held once and sometimes twice each week. Other activities include board games, outdoor games, quizzes, reminiscence sessions visits from local dancers and interactivity with farm animals.The staff are trained to engage service users in meaningful activities and encourage individuals to maintain their life skills.
Service user's individual interests and hobbies will be taken into account and every effort made to assist in these wherever possible.
All interest parties are encouraged to support and be involved in the residents care. Monthly carer's and residents meetings are held and we actively encourage input from family, friends and next of kin's.
Abbots Lawn is close to the sea, it has well maintained gardens. Abbots Lawn is situated near to local cafe's, shops and is on a major bus route.
